Don't Teach your Kinds This Stuff, Please?
Scott Leod is trying to make people use the the items that we use to before technology and the internet took over. Children these days can not function without social networking, cell phones, and computers. If a child could go one day without any technology at all they could not do it. It is almost like an addiction and they may possibly go into with drawls and could possibly be associated addicts.

The iSchool Initiative

After watching the video I was thinking during the video not all parents are going to want to purchase these tool. Some parents can not even afford school supplies such as paper and pencil and have to receive donated items , are people going to donate the iTouch to those students that can not afford them. The concept is a good idea but eventually I do believe the world with come to that because more and more schools are going to online classes and getting the information from the online school.

The Lost Generation

The video is very eye opening in the fact that at first it focuses on the negative and the real aspects of what people are actually thinking and possibly saying. But then at the end there is a twist and it goes in reverse and becomes a positive outlook on life and one that you want to believe but don't really know what to expect.

Eric Whitaker's Virtual Choir

When the video first started it absolutely gave me chills. I think the idea of doing a virutal choir is unique and different. Shows the world you don't have to be in one room to perform as a choir. Just by simply using a web cam you can enter a world within a world.

Teaching in the 21st Century

The video shows how technology is taking over the world. The answers are only a click away now instead of miles and miles away. Students I believe are self taught on how to use computers and search engines but I don't think they are really understanding what they are doing or how to use them. We as teachers must explain and help them understand how to use the resources to their benefit. Guide them and help them understand why some things are they way they are on the web and what to believe and what not to believe. Technology in class is the future and you have to embrace and be ready to incorporate that into your teaching or your students may become bored or zone out on you.

A Vision of Students Today

The video showed facts and thoughts of what people probably think of everyday sitting in class. We are sort of fortunate not to have to sit in seating like in the video. All my classes are small and I know majority of the people in my classes. Depending on the teaching circumstances my teaches may know my name but I don't know for sure unless they call me by my name. I think the video was a little nauseated because of all the fast moving of the camera trying to get to the next sheet of paper. I think they could of some how did the transition to the different people a little better. But all in all the facts were true not all teachers no your know name, you spend all this money on books and may never use them, people with laptops in class are more than likely surfing the internet or talk to friends through IM.  The video basically showed what we think in our minds just don't speak out loud.

It's Not About Technology

Ms. Hines stated technology is useless without good teaching and believe that. You can not teach a student or students without showing or teaching them first about a certain subject. People depend on their laptops, blackberries, social networks but we do not know what the future holds. Sure we can use technology as a gateway but ever teacher teaches in their own way and some do not want to change. The times are changing and more and more people don't have choices on how they want to teach. Most classrooms these days have smart board instead of the old chalkboards and dry erase boards. The smart boards does everything a teacher might need it for but do they rely on it absolutely. So it really isn't about the technology but how we use the technology to show and educate students.

Is It Okay to be a Technologically Illiterate Teacher

The blog posting by Mr. Fisch was dead on. I think teachers need to wake up and stop using the excuse and just embrace the change and learn to use technology in the classroom. It is going to happen whether they like it or not. Majority of my teachers now and in the past at junior college have used computers in some form. Students today can not live without using a computer to do their research for a project. Walking into a library and trying to find information is not used much anymore because you can find everything you need on a some sort of computer.

Gary Hayes Social Media Count

Even though we spend all this time learning how to be a teacher when we get into a classroom the way we are going to teach students is going to change to a new way then what we were taught. Every day and every second people are coming up with new and better ways to do things. They may work for some people others may not like them and just stick to what they know but sooner or later they are going to have to accept the changes and embrace them. The number of people are online everyday grows more and more children are learning about the internet and computers which increases. The number are never going to stop growing so just embrace whatever comes your way.

Did You Know?

The video was informative in a way most people including myself don't really realize what else is going on out there. I knew most of the world knew a lot about technology but when you put it in words on a screen and show the actually numbers they are quite overwhelming. I guess I am in my own little world so I forget that people on the other side of the map are texting, using the internet, and social networking also. The video puts the numbers in red to show us how everything is changing and how quickly they are changing versus 10 and 20 years ago.

Mr. Winkle Wakes

The video shows that even though Mr. Winkles was asleep for 100 years one memory stayed the same teaching in schools. Schools have used the same method for as long as it has been around. I think though before you know we will be doing everything with computers and paper and pens will be non existent. Mr. Winkles was overwhelmed by where ever he went there were machines controlling and helping people. I mean if anyone woke up from sleeping for 100 years of course they would be confused. Technology and the way things are being done changes almost everyday.

Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity

Sir Robinson show education in a different light. He explains how education should be your whole body and not just using your head. I think using visual and hands on activities may possible help students learn than just talking or lecturing about it.  If people just lecture than students will not remember what was spoken. By using technology students can learn different ways and they are always updating and you can explore more with technology. Using creativity shows the students other ways of soaking in knowledge.

Vicki Davis: Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

The video shows a small rural school learning how to get in touch with people on the other side of the map using computers. She is showing her classroom how to use the computers and to educate in a different way instead of using paper and pen. By using the computer the students can look up words and information if they do not understand instead of the teacher having to stop and define a word or explain. I think some teachers my think she is being sort of lazy because they have a certain way of teaching and by that they use the old methods talking in front of a class room for so long and expecting the student to take notes. By using the blogging and the communication with other people students are able to learn more and be more aware of what is going on around them.
